“The house is not for sale”
What it usually means
True today. It says nothing about six months from now, and most sellers who eventually sell said this first.
What to say
That is completely fine. Most people I buy from told me the same the first time. If anything changes, can I check back in a few months?
What not to say
Do not treat this as a no to be overcome. Treat it as a date to call again, and actually make the note.
